Default Running out of gear

LS engine with cable y1 trans takes me to no more than 110 mph in 5th gear at 6900 rpm.

My question is what should I do at the strip once im turbo I know I will be trapping over 110?

bigger tire might help and raise the rev limit a little...if your going to be running slicks it should not be a problem

your not going to be trapping that much higher than 110 with just a stock ls turbo...maybe between 115 to 125 ish

Up the rev limit, bigger tires, or change the tranny's final drive... or a different tranny.

I have the same problem 8800 rpm in 4th gear and I hit the rev limiter. I'm gonna go to 24.5" slicks, I don't want to shift to 5th.

valve springs / retainers and tach higher in 4th if you have to... or go with the longer s1 cable ls trans.

Dude tach higher and get bigger tires to offset the gear ratio's ... my 4th goes to 143 so I dont have to shift into 5th with my slicks and race tune and I have the s1 cable ls trans... trust me it works

Yeah, Taller tires will help some but not much maybe a few MPH higher. Contrary to popular beleif the LS trans is STILL a good choice for us drag racers. I loved mine and will be going back to one w/ my new setup. Shifting to 5th sucks

Here is a Gear/speed calc. that is easy to use: Click Here.

if your still using those 20 inch slicks you did in the past then that's your problem...in 4th on 22 inch slicks what that tranny i end a little past 100...24.5s it shouldnt be a problem

24.5's @ 6900rpm will still only take him to 110MPH. I had nowhere near 450whp and was trapping 120+ so, he's gonna need a tranny change and/or valvetrain upgrade.

i have the same porblem see if you guys can figure it out, i have a built single cam with 4.7 fd in my tranny and m&h 24.5 slicks in 4th im in the 8-8500 range right at the end but if i shift into 5th i doesn't pull anymore, im affrad if i drop to a smaller slick like a 22's i will hit redline alot quicker causeing me to have to shift into 5th.

oh ok yeah I remember. it was allways fun running you back then cause our cars were so even

I just went out and measured my street tires and they are 21-22inches tall. Last night I made a note of what each mph was for each gear was at 7k rpm and it goes like this:
1st@7k takes me to 30
2nd@7k takes me to 50
3rd@7k takes me to 70
4th@7k takes me to 90
5th@7k takes me to 110

ugh time for a lsvtec build
