Advice on a planned ITR Project
Well the project is I plan to take an ITR convert everything to JDM spec except to right hand drive (I just like left hand drive), and swap in a K20A engine. As for engine work, I plan to do the normal mods of Intake, Exhaust, Hi-Flow Cat, and Headers. Additionally I wanted to turbo the motor.
So a few questions:
1. Estimated costs?
2. Estimate on WHP and Torque for this set up
3. Would it be cheaper just to get a JDM ITR and ship it over here? Would I have to go through a bunch of obstacles to get this legalized in the states? (I live in CA)
All additional comments are welcome. Note, I'm not very experienced with engine specifics as a whole, so it would be nice if explaining things or leaving comments to put them in simple english. Thanks.

Oh thank you very much. I tried the search function first for "JDM Conversion" in the ITR forum but it didn't come up for much. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Me thinks you need to step away from the keyboard and stop being so damn **** about what people say on here. Grow up.
"OMG OMG he put a s on the end of header, like does he think he has more then 1? haha what a noobz0r."
I would much rather boost a kseries then a b, so if that's your plan, I say go for it. Plan on spending close to 14grand on everything, including the motor, the mounts and labor etc... I'm sure you can wheel out any amount of horsepower you want, but do you want a dyno queen or are you going to be driving this car? I would say 4-500whp is more then enough driven on the streets, maybe even too much without some help of slicks. IMO, swap the motor out first, get the k in there and drive around all-motor for a bit. With I/H/E, cams and a tune you will be pushing out some nice numbers.

A little bit of simple research would go a long way in creating effective plans, and keeping people from looking stupid.
According to the profile ShadowX22 is only 17, so maybe we can save him from the "Ominous Black Hole of Automotive Stupidity" before it's too late.

How safe is it to suggest to someone younger than you, and who is obviously not very familiar with cars in general, to run slicks on a daily driver?
To the thread starter: We can suggest things to look up and what not, but your mind naturally searching through information will start it's own tangents and you will draw your own conclusions to things that you know best, like your finances and goals.
For importing an R, all I can say is if your in California it's going to take a miracle to get it licensed. There are a few RHD R's for sale on HT. You just have to search for them. They may be more geared toward your ultimate goal and probably cheaper in the long run IMO.

Unfortuantly, I don't know the kids history and or what he is doing with the car. He asked a question and I gave my opinion. Who are you to say how fast he wants to go?
Drop the direct comments, and help the kid instead of being immature adults who act more his age then he does.
He said he wants I/H/E, and eventually wanted to turbo it. I don't see a problem with anything he said.

Our issue is not with how fast he wants to go, it's with the capability of the driver. Every 17 year old male with a license does stupid things in cars. Who knows, maybe he's special and will be able to handle gobs of horsepower, but until we see some proof of that he's still just another 17 year old male with a license that will do something stupid (if not multiple things) in his car. We're concerned for the safety of said 17 year old and for the countless hundreds of other people and vehicles he will pass day in and day out while driving.
We do want to help him, but first we want him to help himself. There's enough good information here on Honda-Tech to educate even the most ignorant of beginners.
And regarding us giving him hell for mentioning a header and a turbo:

Thank you all for the comments and answers. This is for a planned project sometime down the road, just thinking of logistics and cost efficiency compared to buying something like a WRX instead with the money.

1. Estimated costs?
</TD></TR></TABLE>
Quite a bit. A USDM ITR will probably run in the $13K-$15K area. Exterior and interiour wise (JDM front-end and paint with misc. interior parts along with SRD seats) your looking at around $5K-$6K. The K20 will probably run you around $4K with the turbo being around the same price. Factor in atleast $3K for solid tuning/installation and other random swap parts, and your now looking at a ~$35K car. Now, I don't know your financial situation, but $35K is A LOT for a car, especially at your age (I can't preach to much, as I'm only 18). It is also very expensive to keep a car like this maintained, along with running premium gas with todays prices.

Almost impossable to say, seeing as how each setup is unique. Unless this is a track car only, I would make sure that the power made is streetable. Remember to take handling and braking into account aswell.

It could be, but it is likely you will be turned away due to the headaches involved with completing such a project. There is a great article in one of the recent Honda-Tuning Magazines.
Your basically doing what most Integra owners dream of owning in their "imaginary garage". Also note that you never get the same $$$ back you put into your car, and it is very expensive to insure (parts and car). If I had a $35K ITR like this, it would probably never see the light of day
. I'd be way to afraid for something like this to get stolen. Hope this gives you an insight on your decision.

Thank you! That was pretty much what I was looking for. I am just currently looking at options that may or may not be possible a few years down the line, and one that a friend suggested was a JDM ITR, so I thought I would come here and ask. Again, thank you all for the comments and suggestions. They are greatly appreciated!

Well, I assumed he meant, "eventually" meaning, I'll do minor bolt-ons first and then add a turbo on later, knowing he will have to go in a different path in modding. But I guess we all can't think a like. That's why you're here, to help us find ourselves. Thanks
