Default shorter shifter, not a short throw shifter?

i like how in some cars the shifter is shorter and doesnt sit as high, like in bmw's. is there a company or something i can do to have the actual shifter shorter?

im not talking about a short throw shifter!!

Any good welder should be able to handle this for you.

Exactly. The shifter is a lever, if its shorter it will be harder to change gears (and reach)

B&M shifters are shorter physically (had one), cheap, and are a "short shifter"

You could cut it and take a die to it. Thats another idea.

Assuming it's correctly TIG welded back together there should be no problems. I've seen many shifters done like this.

its from them letting go of the clutch early and grinding hte gear or they slam it into gear?

they slam it into gear.

and when i asked if it was safe i didnt mean for the tranny, i was worried about the weld breaking or something if i got it cut and welded

You could also cut it and use an aftermarket **** that doesn't rely on threads. Cutting the shifter will make the **** sit lower, which sounds like what you want, and give a minimal "short throw" improvement.

Eh I've heard bad things about those cheapass ebay ones. Somethin like they're hollow and break. Personally I wouldn't want a shifter to break whiel I'm driving.

I forgot what the company was, but someoen sells short shifters for 30-50 bucks that are solid aluminum. You should try search.
