I may be driving from Raleigh to Dallas this winter/early spring and was considering detouring towards Deals Gap and then continuing westward.

Questions:

1. Anyone have directions coming from the East (I will come off of I-40)?
2. Is it too dangerous in the Winter/spring months? (I would probably be getting to Deals Gap around late morning)
3. Anyone want to join in? (I don't have specific dates or if I would even do it, just gathering info at this point, also, I will be having "fun" but will not try to drive anywhere near 10/10ths.)

 

If you can give me dates I will do my best to meet you up there. It is under a 3hr drive for me, but worth it. Weather will be a concern, but if I go I could round out up a couple ITR's and other integra owners I know in the area. Let me know.

 

I'm down to join you. I haven't been out that way in months.

If I go I'll probably be driving my 92 Hatch. It's for damn sure not street legal.

Shady Valley, TN 489 turns in 12 miles. Very few cops (if any) during the week.

My goal is basically to get from Raleigh to Dallas and it would be nice to take an in-route detour. Is this road you mentioned further away from I-40 than the dragon? A nice road to drive is a bonus, but the goal is to get to West without much of detour.

 

It's a detour. As far east in TN as you can go.
