Default Fuel problem.....

hey guys, i have a 94 accord and over the summer i ran outta gas about 2 times, when the gauge said a 1/4 tank. last yr i put indiglo gauges on and moved the neddle a little so i knew that was wrong but when i went to fill the tank and it ony let me out in about 6.5 gallons....now it is a 17 gallon tank??? so when i got back to school i put my car on a lift and dropped the tank, looked at everything, tested the pump and sender and everything works fine. now i ran outta ideas on what it could be??? anyone help me with this crap so 6.5 gallons doenst fill my tank. one of the other kids here at school said that there might be a little whole in the sock or pump tubes where when submirged in fuel it works fine but when the fuel gets below that point not enough fuel gets pumped to the engine and thats y it stalls at 1/4 tank? could that be reasonable or could it be the problem? let me know thanks RYan

I don't know if this relates at all but I read on auto.consumerguide.com that one of the problems on the 1995's (and there was another year which might be the 94) was that the fuel gauge system in the tank was often faulty. It was faulty on mine but the guy I bought from replaced it before I took ownership and it's working fine right now.
