like the title says. does the center shaft shear? or do the bearings break or what?

That's pretty unusual.....ones i see, the spindle inside shear off.

 

any info on why it broke there like stated i usually see the spindle shear

 

so its the main shaft and not the races or anything inside hmm, interesting.

anyone have a pic of a stock axle dissasembled and clean?

 

all those are power failures; as for just wear and tear, the bearings inside wear out creating play. thats where the clicking comes from

 

yeah im more interested in the power breaks, for launching etc.

 

on my car when i wrecked my axle ( foot slipped off the clutch at 4000rpm when the wheels were completely turned) the boot was torn and there were bearings everywhere. sadly, i cracked the case on my transmission also....big bill for that f-up lol

 

anyone want to donate a busted axle to me for a new idea?

around north va definitely i dont want to ship.

 

both of mine were power failures... left me sitting.... it sucks getting pushed off the starting line.

I have a 87 CRX 1.5 and the axle sheared at the spline inside the hub, interesting ride from there on. Probably from a previous incident, prior.

I would have to agree ive been pushed off twice, stg 2 DSS axles, both times driver side axle, ringd them both off at hub, movin up to stg 3s, but i believe im still goin to have problems, since i was not makin 400 and they suppose to support 400, o well, more money pissed away

DSS Not to happy with them but not many other choices

how does it happen?

 

in my car. i seem to blow apart the inner joint adn throw grease and bearings everywhere. i do this about once a month on rebuilt axles.
