Default smoke coming from breather.

oil smoke coming from the breather??? started right after a stressfull 40 - 120 mph run. engine died, then restarted after about 10 min., after that seems to run OK. no knocking or weird sounds. Hella smoke coming from the valvecover breather. what could it be??

please allow me to explain, i know this one all to well!!!

you are getting "blow by"
caused by exsesive cylinder pressure.

oil is seeping passed your rings and into your cumbustion chamber.

your car should seem to "miss" from time to time.

this is bad!

the solution to this is....

anyone know???

i will tell you.
NEW RINGS!!!

sorry to be the one to tell you. you need to drive it as little as possible. very slowly i might add, untill you can get some new rings.
it might last another year
it may be dead by the time i get done typing this.
i would baby it until i could get it fixed
no interstates, no long trips

good luck, sorry it happened to you as well

yea, its definetly fucked. doesn't run right at all. Does the engine have to come completely out for new rings. i'm guessing yes????

not really sure it kinda depends on the shop.
rings are around $80
pulling and reinstalling a motor is where the cost will be

if you are in VA, you have a ton of options for shops there.
call a few of them and price shop
even better, tell them you are price shopping and try to get them to compete for your business.

oh yeah and if i had the same synario i would do rods and pistons also, but that will greatly increase the cost.

good luck
