Default LS Tranny or GSR??

i have a b18b1 and i was planning on swapping in a GSR tranny...

i wanted faster acceleration with its slightly shorter gear ratios, but now i'd just like to kno if it would be better to stay with my LS tranny or go with the GSR for a turbo application...

i have a small t25 turbo that im just waiting to put on, usually i kno that longer gears are better for turbo, but the gear ratios arnt't too much diifrent from each other...

so which tranny would i be better off with?

You can always upgrade your LS tranny by adding in a Quaife LSD I think you should consider that.

The LS tranny is terrible. The myth that it is so much better for turbo is one made up by someone who couldnt drive, or had walmart tires. The gsr transmission will probably be newer too, and better for you to dog on. Free yourself from your oppressive transmission.

A shorter geared car will accelerate quicker n than a long geared tranny regardless if it is boosted or not. The LS tranny > GSR tranny for boost idea is just a myth.

get the GSR tranny. it's probably the best tranny out there for any LS setup with stock rev limit. i've had 5 ls turbos and on 3 of them have swapped out the LS tranny for the GSR tranny. that **** people say about longer gears, "You'll boost longer so you're accelerating faster" is bs. you're boosting longer beause it takes that much longer to get to speed and because with the longer gears there's more load.

the ITR/B16 tranny is also great but IMO when i tried it, the LS rpm's just don't do well with the gears that are that short.

GSR, but, then you'll be reving at 4500 on the freeway. Gas mileage go down. Gas prices are up.

Its your pick.

you got it all wrong. 4.5k is going 90 mph and i don't think you'll be wanting to do that. at 80mph you'll be at 4k and 70mph 3.5k...and so forth.

i think the Gsr tranny would be good. it seems perfect for turbo ls becuase its not too short such as the b16 or itr, and its not long like the ls

Personally, i would say 98spec ITR/B16 w/LSD or GSR Shorter gears will help your time alot, and it will be so much fun

I have a b16 in my civic and i was driving to Sioux City for about a Hour at 85mph at 5k to 5.4k all the way and i still got 30mpg.

If you got boost then just keep the LS not for all the myths, just because your making power more power you make the less you gotta worry about gear ratio

a shorter geared tranny will always accelerate faster than a longer geared tranny (WITH TRACTION)

if you are staying relatively low hp then a gsr or b16 tranny isn't gonna give u terrible traction. The only logic for going with a longer geared tranny on a street car is when the powerband is so rediculous that you can no longer keep the tires down in any gear

i've had experience with all 3 trannies. GSR is by far my favorite tranny with the LS motor combo.

I'm not gonna argue which tranny is better. Obviously on a stock motor a gsr tranny is better than an ls. Stock B-series motors really make no power until you are high in the rpm range so you need to keep the revs up.
But when a car is turbo charged and making a decent amount of torque wouldn't you want longer gears? It works so well in every other car in drag racing(but of course I'm always looking at things in a drag racing perspective). The less amount of shifting you have to do the better.
