Default Ignition Upgrade......MSD 6AL or MSD SCI-L for 5th gen.

Looking to purchase a Complete Ignition upgrade and found these two kits.

MSD 6AL 6420
MSD SCI-L 6320

Now Which is the better for the Prelude. The SCI says for smaller displacement engines. And the 6A is for all. The 2.2 is small but not too small in terms on Honda's engines.

Any feedback from anyone who's used them?? They are the same Price so I want to choose the right one for my Application. I Plan supercharged.

I've used both & they are both great systems. I still use the SCI in my Lude. I don't recall the exact differences between the two (I imagine you've researched them on MSD's site). Basically both are a good way to go, though I believe the way the SCI ignites may be a littler better for compacts that's why I kept it, & the 6AL is more popular for the big block crowd that's why I sold it.

I've asked this question to MSD before, and they told me that the SCI and 6A are identical. The only difference was with the hardware kit they supplied to install the kit into the car. They packaged a different kit with the SCI they felt more appropriate to sport compacts. However, the ignition boxes themselves were identical.

interesting that u say that.. i have the M&W pro-10 w/ ps92 coil as suggested by tony1 & arturbo. hopefully this will solve the misfire problem i had with the stock ignition and with the blaster2 coil.

Using the 6AL requires you to set the ignition box up for 4 cylinder. There are two wires in a small compartment on the side of the ignition box, they are red and blue. By not cutting any, your telling the ignition that its being used on an 8 cylinder application, by cutting i think the red is for a 6 cylinder, and cutting both is used for a 4 cylinder. Its a very simple task, but i think the SCI doesn't require this because its already made for a sportcompact. you may just have to set it up for 4 cylinder instead of a possible 6.
