Default Exhuast comparison?: BUDDYCLUB SPEC 2 / SPEC 3

hey guys,

im looking at a Buddy club Spec 2 or the Spec 3 exhuast. to go with my k20 swap.

just wondering, has anyone used any of these?

which one sounds better? i like the look of both, so that doesnt bother me, what does is sound, oh yea, and the power, but i will be running a DTRFab header, so power will be made

but yea, just curious to which one is the better between the two,

and no, dont tell me to custom make one, a local distrubutor has them listed for 890 for Spec2 and 1080 for spec 3, which is 100-200 more than what i can get a custom one made from, this is eaiser aint it, and blinger.. hahah

I just raced at Qualcomm Stadium last night (I have a Buddy Club Spec-II full catback, omni testpipe, and header is a JDM ITR 4-1) and after every run, I'd come back down the return lane and people in crowd would yell things along the lines of, "YEAH! THAT'S HOW YOU DO IT! OPEN HEADER!"

As a matter of fact, I would say it's somehow louder than open header on my car. And the silencer does very little, if nothing at all.

hmmmm ehh... might not be a good idea to run with the Spec II then,

local cert laws, have the exhuast noise dB level at 89-95dB. sounds like that is wayy over.

Yeah if Vehicle Code is your concern, BCSPII is definitely not for you. I think the BCSPII for the 5th Gen. Civic (piping size varies by generation), which is what I have, is rated at 120dB. With the silencer I'm guessing 15-20dB less, if that.

Really race inspried the spec II is. All BC exhausts are loud. But the spec III is a couple of notches down in sound from the spec II. A cat and a magnaflow muffler along the line of the exhaust should tone it down a bit.

NZ, we dont require a Cat, so ill most likely use a test pipe in place.

Spec III is a bit quieter than spec II. Spec IV is quite quiet when cruising, but just as loud as the III when I got on it. In my EG, Spec III caused a resonance drone between 3.5~4.5k rpm cruising, while the spec IV does it @ 3-4k rpm only during acceleration.
