Car Starts but turns off

Car Starts but turns off
for a friend. She has a 91 accord lx 4dr 5spd, i/h/e. Now my problem is that every once and a while the car wont crank, but if you give it about 10 minutes it'll crank over, and while driving sometime it turns off, i thought it was the fuel pump but i changed it and it still does the same ****. What could it be?, distributor?, also on the old fuel pump the filter came off and still in the gas tank.

when u say car won't crank you mean it wont even turn over ?? if it won't turn over it is battery, cables, starter related problem chk those..........
if u mean it won't start , u need to diagnose if it is fuel or electrical ,,,,,lack of..
when car dies does it start right away??? if not again find out if it is fuel or electrical ..
the part u lost in the tank is not the fuel filter it is the fuel pump sock , these cars dont have a fuel filter in the tank ......

Its very likely its a relay. There is a relay that deals with starting car and some other things. my car had the same problem... wouldn't start then like 15 minutes later it would start like there was no problem, and also sometimes start then just die. I thought at first to it was my fuel pump but i hadn't noticed any loss of power or other indications of bad fuel pump. The relay was faulty and wouldn't pass information through all the time. sounds like the problem your having.
