Default 9005 Light Conversion

Hey there,

I have read through some posts regarding the simple conversion trick for the lowbeam headlamps from 9006 to modified 9005 bulbs. My question is, I know this will make the low beams brighter, but they will not run as bright as the high beams - right? Thanks for the advice.

The lights themselves will be as bright as the highbeams but they are aimed at the ground so its not a problem. Also with high beams on, all four lights are on instead of just two.

The main difference between the 9006 and 9005, is one end has a cap on it and the other doesn't. I have been driving with mine for 2 months and have yet to have someone flash there brights at me.

I've had mine on for a couple months... the difference is certainly noticeable, I like it.

I have been flashed one time... at a stop light, I was on an incline, and my lights were shining over into oncoming lanes. Nothing I could do. The dude flashed his brights at me, so I flashed mine back.

It wasn't a big deal.

When my high beams are on, 4 lights are always on. It's always been like that.

I think only the cars (Civics and such) that have a dual filament bulb shut off the low beams when the highs go on. I guess the bulb gets too hot to support both filaments being lit.

I had this before I got my HID's yesterday There is a very noticeable difference. They should appear brighter on the ground than your high beams since the light is focused. High beams on tegs send light everywhere. I had this mod for several months, and never got flashed. Just make sure your headlights are aimed correctly.

I used cheap 7 dollar bulbs. They work very well for the price I don't think the Silverstars have been out for a year yet.

Same here...It's a good mod for the money. But I've gone HID and will never go back.

Does anyone have any pics of how to do the conversion?
I think I have seen them before, but couldn't find them with the search.

USA crap????

if you havnt checked lately there are lots of USA parts in cars from all over the world. Nevermind the fact that there are foreign cars assembled right here in the good ole US of A. that are excelent automobiles. First coming to mind is the Honda Accord........anyone care to call that product crap?? Many peoples jobs, careers, and lives depend and revolve around the production of american built automotive products and parts. To make a comment like "USA crap" is not only insulting to hard working men and women of the parts industry but to this country in itself.

perhaps a better choice of phrasing could be used in the future

i believe the reason for bulbs blowing up is because of human error. when installing these bulbs you never want to touch the bulbs only the plastic parts you can. the reason is.....when you touch the bulbs the oils from your fingers is like cooking grease on a frying pan. when the lights are left on long enough they will blow up. this is only a thought so comments welcome

I'm using the Cool Blues... I got them pretty cheap. Pep Boys was running a special, buy one ($15.00) get the second for half price ($7.50)... Couldn't beat that with a stick! I've had my Cool Blues in now for about 4/5 months... Love em, no problems!

I also did this conversion with the Silverstars, and I'm pretty damn impressed thus far, superb increase in light output over the old stockers. Heres a bad pic:

It won't crack you housing as long as you don't go over board with a 80 watt bulb. Normal ones 60-65 watts, are fine.

I've been thinking about doing the 9005 conversion for a while, but how the hell do you get the second O-ring over the bulb? I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it because I'm up at school and I only have my car on the weekends, but the bulb looks wider than the O-ring itself. Some idea of how to add the spare o-ring from the left over 9006 to the 9005 would help, thanks.
