Default 91 Integra LS Rear pad and rotor change..help me out

After replacing my front rotors and pads I decided I would do the same for the rear. I noticed for the rear brake piston there is some type of + on the piston..Can someone please explain to me what I am suppose to do to make the rear piston compress?

Thanks in advance!

rotate it. Last time I did that, I used a long, flat head screwdriver.

screw it in... it'll move the caliper in. (No C clamp)
and then line it up with your brake pad.
If you look at your pad there is a small piece sticking out in the back.
That is what it's for.

I already did that (turned it clockwise) but it won't budge! Would you advise spraying the piston with liquid wrench or WD-40 before attempting this again??

Last time I spun my rear caliper piston in, I used an open end wrench that fit in the grooves, then put a screwdriver thru the closed end and cranked it. Worked great for me. The problem your having is that the screwdriver isn't allowing you to put enough torque on the piston to screw it in, some are harder than others.

ok remove your brake cap where you put the brake fuit in, them tried it should be easier make sure you have the proper tool not a screw driver and hamer and make sure the cylinder is all the way in so the brake pad can fit

It won't work if the parking brake is set.

they make a tool that you can buy at sears or any automotive store, it kinda looks like a 1" square block that has different tabs on all sides and you use with a 3/8" ratchet. it is a good investment (20 bucks or so). however i have already used a big flat head screwdriver, or a pair of bent needle noise pliers

goodluck

Spray a little silicone in and around the caliper piston boot.Buying the little tool for rotating the piston is a great idea. You can never have too many tools

Bigass Mac-Daddy flathead.... Thats what I, and all the guys at my shop use, and yeah, make sure the reservior is open, or you have line-locked the brake line, and you can undo the bleeder, however the second method is extremely messy compared to the first. BTW, don't get brake fluid on your paint.... it will eat it away.

a needle nose plier works best with our cars

edit: whatever you do, do NOT cut the rubber boot around the piston, and make sure to line up the X with that little stub on the brake pad
