i was wondering if anyone could help me out, I was driving earlier today and my check engine light came on. After that evertime I got to 3500 RPM it got stuck, the car would just bog at that point. It did it in every gear at the same RPM. I was wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing? or might know what the problem may be? I was thinking it may be a TPS or MAP sensor? or some kind of sensor? thanks for taking your time to help me out!

 

Check your CEL. Your car is in limp mode.

k I just went out to check it, and now the CEL isn't coming on...? i turned the car on to see if maybe i was doing it wrong but the light doesn't come up anymore. So i revved it up past 3500rpm and its fine. Could it be its only going to do it when its really hot or something? if It comes up again i'll def check that out, Thanks Ricey McRicerton for the link, its saved under favs now. Well thanks guys I guess it was just a glitch or something.

And I just noticed you're in an ODBI car. There's some trick about having to check it while the cars on, but I don't really know. I've never owned an OBDI car.

 

When mine went into limp mode it was the ECT (coolant temp sensor) which is a code 6. Sometimes it would come on and other times it would not.

yeh my vx hatchback does the same crap when you floor it it boggs out and just turn's off i got a air intake temperature sensor was going off as well as a 02 sensor, which cost like over 400 dollars from dealer.... so i just gave up on it and im just swapping the damn thing.... i tried everything ....i heard someone say that it had somthing to do with the throttle positioning sensor or somthing im not sure ....
