Shifter makes a rough clicking noise/feeling when shifting into 3rd gear. I used to be able to tolerate it but not anymore. It's getting louder and more rough. My cuz says its the shifter bushing. Could this be it? It only does it when shifting into 3rd gear.

 

that would be the first thing i would replace.. your cuz sounds like he knows whats up. either way just jack your car up and get under there and look. youll be able to see it all messed up if that is the problem.

 

So if its the shifter bushing, it would look obvious if i look under the car?

 

yea check out the bushings. and it could also possibly be hitting your exhaust pipe.

I talked to my cousin today and now he says that my tranny's 3rd gear sychro could be going bad . How do I know if its a shifter bushing problem or its a tranny taking a **** on me. The shifting is horribly sloppy.

Ok. i just got done test driving it around the beautiful city of Carson paying cose attention to the sound and feel and it definitely seems too be eminating from somewhere around the shifter, not the tranny. I'm still a little worried though.
