Default Tie Rod ends

Ok the shop called back and said he was going to do an alignment as I asked but the tie rod ends needed to be replaced also and no point in doing it now. Which are the best ones to replace this with?

I'm sick and tired of this ******* car. I don't like it anyway and the only reason I drive it is because my truck doesn't get good gas milage all these things arnt helping the fact that I don't like it to start with. I really am wanting to get a Camaro or Mustang or something with some power I'm wondering if I should just sell the car now. The exterior has scratches from my dog and a dent or so so I'm not sure I could get much out of it.

Well, to each his own. But be prepared to start replacing bits and pieces far earlier in the cars' life than you're dealing with now. Engine life?; start looking to replace it no later than 120,000 miles with a domestic. Parts prices?; door opening weatherstrip... Honda Accord = 27.00 Camaro = 56.00. Salvage yard motor?: chevy small block = 1000.00 Honda f22B2 = 400.00 to 600.00.

Bite the bullet, fix the car, and laugh at all the H2 Hummer owners throwing those cool 'hundred dollar bills at the gas station owners. And put the money you're saving aside for the car you "really" want.

As to your question "...best ones", If you can find some with grease fittings, go that way. If not, Autozone (etc) will work fine.

Aight I guess I will just fix it. I have a lifted Ram also and just prefer driving that as I like the feel of the V8 but the 8mpg it is getting is killing me so I figured I would like a Camaro as I would like something quite a bit faster than the Honda and people said they are getting over 25mpg versus my 24mpg I get with this car. On the other hand the Accord is paid for. Then again a domestic Camaro or something is much easier for me to work on.

I'm just worried with it having 183k miles on the original engine and tranny that as soon as I fix this stuff I'm going to have everything one after another go bad on it.

If you think your 5th Gen is giving you fits, thank your lucky stars you don't own a 3rd Gen (x thru '89)!!! With those, it's like joining the "suspension part of the week" club. The engine / tranny just keep on working but it was a constant parade of ball joint here, bushing there.......
The three 5th Gen's (all CD720's) my immediate family operate have been a blessing. other than the normal oil changes, the only "repairs" have been one (1) radiator, two valve lash adjustments, a valve cover gasket replacement and the occasional brake job.

I almost suspect the problem may be more the "parts replacer" you've got as a tech, considering the posts you've authored. I'd question half the stuff he's suggesting. If I were your service writer, I'd expect a bonus for all the upselling I did. -just an observation-

He says the axles are bad as the cv boots are busted and that the axles have not been getting any grease on them and it appears to have been like this for a while.

I don't agree with him being a bad parts replacer as I have tried several differnt shops a few of which have tried to rip me off. I found one I like but is slightly more than this shop. I have several friends on of which is a really good mechanic just doesn't have time to work on his truck most of the time although he does do some stuff. He will only let this guy or one other work on his vehicles. The other one is older and doesn't do much now.

Everyone else seems to like him around here also and I have talked to several people that will only take their vehicle to him. Most of which can do most of it themselves just don't have the time as they have other jobs. A few of which have been ripped off at other places so now go to him.

Good, that alays my suspicions. If he's giving you his reasonings as opposed to the all too familiar "It's Broke", then I'm far more confortable. It's just I get the ******* when I hear "both" of something needs replacing, without a valid explanation.
