Default Can you feel the VTEC?

Yea, it has been a while now, but I never really feel the vtec kicks in at all.
my car got V2 intake, DC header, n GSR swap into LS with LS tranny.
I went through the whole band all the way to 8rpm but i dont really feels any rush from the car just feels like it slowly moving rather than a vtec rush in. I can feel it in my 02 Accord.

So do you guys feel the vtec everytime? if there any info that you guys need to know that I did not mention then please tell me.

im very suprised that you can feel the vtec in your accord over a gsr swap..... i suggest getting a skunk2 IM and chipped ecu (disabling the butterflys) and then youll feel it and hear it

Or you can remove your cat and put a test pipe, 2.25 piping w/ straight through exhaust.

when i put my test pipe on i noticed a huge differance in power. my cat was clogged so bad it robbed my power. driving with my cat on was like driving with your ac on... it sucked...

Never felt it much stock or basic bolt ons... but with the R cams and the chip it kicks pretty well... even on the stock IM.

you're not really supposed to 'feel' it.

and that is not helping.

Yupp when I had my GSR in my 4 door Integra.
All I had where simple bolt-ons. Also a TEST PIPE really does help alot cheapest upgrade you can make. Remove your cat and you'll feel a difference.

But a GSR's Vtec in a Integra doesn't really pull unless you have alot of sh*t done to it.

your LS transmission is stealing all the power with the long gear ratio....I would get rid of that LS tranny and buy a b16 transmission....if you got the cash get a itr tranny with lsd.... both are short gear ratio..

definately get rid of that LS S80 tranny and go with either a b16 or Y80 tranny.

I hate Ls trannys, they sound so loud and they don't go anywhere. make sure your not throwing any codes.

VtecH pwns joo...can you here it now?

Drove my car for so long....I don't really pay attention to the sound anymore, but I can still definitely feel it. Actually wouldn't it be best to have a smooth transition rather than a "pull?"

yeh its better to have a nice vtec crossover compared to a harsh and sudden crossover. getting tuned will make the vtec crossover much more smoother.

i've never really 'felt' VTEC except for my brother's JDM H22 powered accord and my buddy's 2.2 LS/VTEC that i helped build. it's nice but nothing near the feel of VTEC/TURBO combo.

put a 80 shot in with a MSD window switch so it kicks in at 5500rpm... Youll feel something for sure. HAHA.

ON a stock ECU with the stock IM even with an intake and other supporting mods,, VTEC engauges around 4800 or some ****,and even with a skunk2 intake mani, youll prolly barely hear it. Im selling my kenji ECU should you be looking to buy one. VTEC is set at 5300 and believe me i can feel it!!!

NOPE. Nothing at all. No Light no leak.

SO LS tranny is part of the problem. Would anyone trade for it for a B16 or something?

Yea the 02 Accord Ex is an automatic. I get wat you saying about the car kicking down gear, but I do it from a standstill to a flooring the gas. Ok, so the car was standing still (say at the stoplight), when it turns green, I floor the gas and you can see the car moving and when it hit 5rpm, the engine make an agressive sound and can feels a little rush that you know the car is going. So i that how I can tell when the vtec kick, But the GSR swap, I only feel slower after it got pass 6rpm. The car it went pass 4rpm to 6rpm, I feel nothing kick in or any pull at all. Accord I can definitely feel that I can assure. I just know that the MPH meter it going up but it going up slow though. LIke going to 60mph, I feel like forever to get there.

4400rpms

Ive heard the s2 manifold with stock vtec x-over, definitely more noticeable sound wise, but feels the same or slower in the midrange. But yeah, pump up the vtec to 5k or higher and brrrrmmmmm... POP... bhwaaaahhhh!
