Default running a wastegate without a boost controller?

if i have a wastegate and no boost controller, do i hook the turbo up to the line coming from the side of the gate or the top, it s tial 38mm.

Right now i have it hooked up to the side, with the top open.. is this correct?

thanks

You run a line from either the compressor housing or intake manifold (I perfer the intake manifold) to the side port on the wastegate, and leave the top port open.

You get a more precise reading at the intake manifold.

your probably not leaking boost you just not seeing the full boost because you have your wastegate pressure source before the intecooler. there is always a pressure drop through the intercooler no matter how good it is.

use the intake manifold or tap it right before the throttle body.

ok im going to try running it off the manifold, right now all my vaccum ports on the manifold are in use, most of them are T's off (the two rear ports on the IM).

Where you you recommend i connect this to the IM since most of my vacuums are being used? Should I T it off the vac line right at the throttle body?

thanks!

I think what they mean is tap into either your IM or maybe your charge pipe right before your IM.

You want your source to the wastegate as close to the engine as possible so your wastegate doesn't open early, which it'll do if it's connected to the compressor housing.

Using the intake manifold will be more precise and also youll be referencing boost after the pressure drop from the intercooler..

Can I T off the brake booster vacuum? thats the line coming from the firewall near the brake fluid resevoir right? Also i thnk there are 2 vacuum ports on top of the throttle body that have nothing T'd off of them, would they be better?

Thanks! please reply asap

Get a Golden Eagle vacuum manifold. It will solve all of your problems.

You can use one of the untapped Ts on your manifold. Any vacuum source will work.

yeah i was just verifying where all the vaccum ports on a stock manifold are:

2 on the back right (near cl 1)
2 on the top left (top of tb near cyl 4)
1 on the front right?(near cyl 1 goes to firewall)

is this correct? just want to make sure im T'ing a vacuum line and not something else.. i searched and coulnt find any layouts of all the ports..

If you're not sure pop the line off. It'll either be empty, which is vacuum, or it'll be coolant. If it's coolant just plug it back to where you got it from and try a new line.
