it's getting to the point where people are going to have to spend all their money on security for their car, rather than performance mods. There's nothing worse then to see all your hardwork get taken from you by thieves.

Hey man sorry to hear about your friends loss. I'm not a honda guy myself, however I enjoy coming on over from vwvortex once and awhile and see whats happening with you guys. The typeR is definetly an amazing car and it seems like you guys, the owners, all have a comrodery(sp.???) between each other, kinda the same thing going on with all of us vw guys, so I can definetly appreciate that.
As a true car buff it kills me to see that a ITR is being stolen almost on a weekly basis now. There is no doubt in my mind that the typeR will go down in the books as one of the best sports cars ever produced and its a shame to think there will only be a small amount still farting around in the future. Anywho, that was my little speech, and once again sorry to hear about everyone on this forum who has lost one of their babies.
I dont know if I could be done (cause I dont know my *** from my elbow when it comes to these cars) but it probably wouldnt be a bad idea for one of you guys to come up with some sort of security systems specifically for the ITR. Something tells me they would sell like hotcakes

Not a bad idea to design a security system exclusively for the ITR, but theives learn quickly and if a lot of ITRs have that same system then they have the same weaknesses as well. I was talking to a friend of mine who used to live in New York and I was asking him some stuff about security. He said a lot of professional thieves take those tazer things and use it on all four corners of the chassis hoping the ground for your security system is on one of the corners and it fries the system. I was looking at some websites and they have battery backup sirens that stay charged through your electrical system but if the wires are cut or the battery is disconnected they start whaling until they are disarmed through a remote. Also it would be a good idea to put one of these inside the car so it deters thieves from being inside, combine that with a well hidden fuel cutoff switch and I think you'd have a pretty decent way of protecting the ITR. Any other ideas are welcome.

What I want to know...is how long before one of us "catches" this happening.
I don't think I've heard of one owner seeing it happen. How can they keep getting away with this? Damn.
I feel sorry for the first person to get caught trying to steal an R..they will suffer the wrath built up from all previous thefts. I hope it doesn't land one of us in trouble though.

Seriously, this is exactly what I'm referring to. I'm thinking of the gun pics posted here. Would one of us really Kill someone. Now if you see that they have a gun, does that make it o.k.? And what thieve wouldn't carry a gun. I mean their not stealing some old lady's accord here, they know their taking someones' prize possesion...I just hope I never have to deal with this.

I know if I happened to catch one person boosting my car and was satisfied he was alone, I'd kill him with my bare hands and claim self-defense. If there is more than one person, your odds of winning decrease dramatically unless you are Mike Tyson or Bruce Lee, or some equivalent.

What a shame. Isn't that like 8 or so in the last week and a half. This is getting ridiculous. I wonder what will happen when the summertime rolls around and there are more ITRs roaming the streets

DAMN THIEVES

its a dying breed, and for all of the bastards who steal our cars, soon there will be none for them to steal and then they will be stealing each others stolen r motors from the civics...

Ha Ha Ha...I never thought of that, soon there will be few R's, and the few that are left will be practically armored or heavily guarded, then the civics Will be sought after, they will practically be R's anyway, 5 lug, full R interior, and the almighty engine. Their day will come. Hopefully everyone who purchased stolen goods will get theirs. And to the legit buyers, unfortunately, you will probably have to worry.
Although then the theives will have to actually do some research to gaurantee their not getting a SOHC or something..but I guess the 5 lug conversion would be a pretty good indication.
Interesting.
