new here, been watching this forum for a long time accually but i turn 16 in like 3 months so i thought i should start thinking about what im gonna do to my car.
i want to get a crx and think im gonna get a alarm system first for my car cause that is proubley a smart thing to do lol, what do you guys think, thx

Mmm.. Do you have a CRX, or were you planning on buying one?

 

yeah an alarm is always the first thing i go with when i get a new car that doesnt have one installed...if ur gonna be leaving the body stock a regular alarm should be sufficient...but once u start doing stuff to make ur car stand out more, it will start catching peoples eye...making it more of a target for theft....when u get to that point it would be good to start thinking about extra security...something like a fuel cut switch,clutch lock,brake lock,quick release steering wheel,the list goes on and on....
just one word of advice that i can give u is...whoever installs ur alarm let them not install the brain right under ur dash by ur main relay...that is the most common place and that will be the first place that the thieves will look....i had mine installed behind my center console....this was on my old car so all u HT thieves can keep looking

 

yes i dont own a crx yet... but ya thx for the advise! i will remember that, and yes i was thinking of kill switches and all that but not intell later on down the road.

any thoughts on what brand of system? just wonderin

 

ive heard some pretty good things about viper. you could also probably just find something cheap on ebay and rig it yourself so you can set up your alarm with anything you want

 

when it comes to car security do not be cheap...would you rather pay 50-100 bux more now or end up losing thousands if ur ride gets stolen? i think the choice is pretty clear
viper is a good system....crimestopper....go to your nearest stereo/alarm installer and talk to the guy...let him know what ur budget is and work from there...if the guy is a dick just leave the shop and go to the next...a buddy of mine exchanged words with his installer and they did the worst job on his car i have ever seen...
