7th gen Accord break warpage. HELP!
Hey there. I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX with 5spd. Right now it has about 22,500 miles on it and it needs another set of front brake rotors because the first set warped around 16K and now its happening again. the first set was exchanged by my honda dealer under warranty. Im assuming this one will be to. What i wanna know is why are the breaks on this care so prone to warpage?

A lot of people are having this problem, it's not you. Wait until someone can give you the EXACT reason, but from what I know, there's a problem with the brake pads, poorly designed or something.

Over tightening of the lug nuts can contribute to rotors warping (that's why Honda calls out torque specs for them).
Surface rust can form on the braking surface (not covered by the pad) if parked for any length of time. - Acts like a warped rotor until the rust goes away -
Hitting a puddle of cold water after "spirited" brake application (hauling down from speed on the interstate) can do it too. It's called thermal shock, and the warp comes from uneven (instantanious) cooling over only part of the super heated rotor.
Just a few.....

Those cause problems with brakes, but the 7th gens are requiring brake changes every 7k miles, something that definitely isnt 'wear and tear', and it's happening with a lot of cars, there's a Service Bulletin out on it.

I have never seen a brake pad wear out at just 7,000 miles. It's not impossible, but it would be extremely rare. Any rumors you heard about it are just that. There IS however an issue with the brake pads, it applies only to the 2003 model year, and a select VIN range. See the bulletin here.... at least until webshots sees it's copyrighted. http://community.webshots.com/...eEidl Clicky Clicky
