Hi,

I was just curious on how to findout if a Accord was built in Japan or in America If it is made in America, what is the percentage of the parts were made in Japan?

look at your vin number.
if the first letter is a J, then it was made in japan

 

if the vin # starts with a J is made in JAPAN.........IF IT STARTS WITH 1 USA if it starts with a 2 Canada..........as for percentage i got no clue

 

A lot of hte components are built in japan, then the car is assembled here.

You can tell if it's made in Japan if it does the quarter mile .5 seconds faster than the US one because it's JDM

Yep. I believe it's that location where I read that my car was manufactured with 30% parts made in Japan.

It's also listed on a sticker on the underside of the hood, I believe.

a buddy of mine had a 5th gen...95 EX sedan that was made in japan..his first letter of his VIN was J

My '99 Accord was made in Japan.

 

my 93 was made in japan it says under the hood and on the door

Yeah my 5th gen EX was made in japan as well

 

Right after the UAW bitched a big fit about imported cars killing off hte market for US cars, thus hurting their jobs. Then to make them happier, Honda built plants in the US to hire American workers so they wouldnt whine as much.

That's the basic idea. Other reasons may ensue.

it was either the 4th or 5th gen....honda's first US plant in ohio (i think) started producing them

Unions always want more than can possibly be given, but that's the point of a union. It wasnt their fault America was building big, inefficient, unreliable vehicles and Honda took the market niche....but yea...I remember seeing clips of people burning Hondas just because they're Hondas.

 

What about Acura??. Were the parts sent here from japan and the cars also assembled here, just slapped the A sign on them??

All Acura's are assembled in the US and Canada.
