Clutch throw out bearing?
Hello, Im having a problem with my transmission...it's making really loud rattling noises...i changed the clutch and all the bearings the beginning of this yr...when i put even a little pressure on the clutch..the noise goes away....but i remember i had a hard time with the clip on the fork...the little thing that looks like a paper clip...i think its called a fork spring....well...would it make the noise if the clip would have fall out? or not in place? please let me know...thank you

i have the same problem... but i haven't fixed mine either. its either the throw-out bearing or the input shaft bearing. my buddy who works at honda in the service dept says its the throwout bearing but i won't know until i take it off.

There is NO way to know untill you pull the tranny. Ive searched through the old threads and just by the sounds and actions alone noone could tell what was wrong with it untill they pulled the tranny.
okay, fellow honda-tech'r heres the thing it is definitly one of two things, a)throw-out bearing b) input shaft bearing. for your sake i hope its #b. however, pull your tranny & take a look see for yourself, have a helms handy i advise. i would make sure all of the bearings, springs, lubed accordingly before you replace anything imo. hope this helps, gl.
To fix whatever is wrong the transmission must come out. My money is on the input shaft bearing or the throwout bearing. The input shaft stops turning when you depress the cluth pedal, or at least it should. Also at the same time a load is being placed on the release bearing, loading the loose bearing makes it get quieter sometimes. Thats why as has already been stated. Pull that trans! And know the truth.

I can say thats pretty much true, i did the ISB and clutch replacement. total three bearings changed. Still has the noise that goes away when i step on the clutch. Its obvious its a bearing sound, my friend is a honda technician confirmed this. So i say next time when you pull the tranny off check ALLLL bearings. my ISB was perfectly fine btw.

Honda! thats your best bet for the best fitment for a ISB. Now if you need a throwout or pilot bearing just buy a new clutch KIT, and it will come with them. The ISB is like $20-$30 bucks from honda. They use another name for it though I think.

lol no just becareful your not buying a high mileage tranny because it will be nothing but problems. I have some noise coming from my tranny not sure what it is but ive looked into these guys https://honda-tech.com/zero...85206. I just asked them how much for a D series Ex tranny, not crazy but not a great deal. If you search D series trannys have some issues 100,000 miles +.
