Does anyone know how to ghetto rig my windows to stay up because its about to get cold.

 

A little more info would be nice... Year, model, trim? Power windows or manual? Does it go down but not up? Does it stop moving part of the way up? Does it not work at all? Can you hear the motor trying to spin? Have you checked the fuses/wiring, etc?

 

the cars a 1988 honda accord lx. I do not hear the motor working.. i have checked the fuses. The windows wont go up.. they used to both work when i first bought the car and now seem to not want to go up..

 

If it's more than one window, it sounds like you might have a problem with the switch or with a relay. You can try cleaning the contacts on the switch and see if that corrects the problem. I'm assuming that the window other than the driver's window will not roll up with either switch?

If you just want to temporarily rig the windows closed, you can disconnect the window from the motor and hold it up with wads of newspaper and a small block of wood, or something to that effect.
