OT: But hopefully not too OT Weight of Rear DC2R hatch without glass
I had never felt one prior to this weekend. I couldn't believe how heavy it was without the shock supports. Even without the glass, it's VERY heavy. Perhaps Adam will chime in. You can IM him as he's username AdamITR
Yeah although i dont care for the non fuctional carbon show type stuff, i feel it is probably a easy sponsorship to get for a racecar and may offer some good weight savings.
Yea theyre heavy!! Never felt on without the glass but I'm sure its still up there. They remind me of the crx hatch.

Understood. If it were at all practical for me to weigh it, I would (it's in a storage unit across town with no scale).
If someone wants to go by there and weigh it (and take it and throw it away), you're welcome to it.

Something to remember is that if you use a carbon hatch you will probably need to come up with a more complex method of carrying rear wing loads.
When you're at Laguna in a few weeks take a look at how the Cadillacs are done. There's at least one other car in the GT class that has a subframe carrying wing loads down to the trunk floor.
Scott, who has a lexan window and a stock hatch...and the wing mounting is plenty stout. I'll post some pics of what I did for you Casey.

Scott i hear what your saying really i do, but hopefully the bling bling carbon thats is readily available is strong enough to support the load
Casey - who is wondering why all of you **** ITR guys cant tell me the weight of the hatch

I think what scott is saying is that, the load of the downforce will push the hatch down and change the angle of the wing entirely..... not a good thing... and variable according to speed.
I have a complete hatch minus wing that I could weigh - but it's so heavy that one person would have a hard time standing on a scale with it in hand.....

Even worse - I was thinking that you might quickly crack and break the mounting area out of the carbon hatch.
Scott, who will do some weighing and posting later tonite...

WHAAT!?
A cf hatch weighs 30lbs?
Screw that, I can get my buddy at ELAN/ PANOZ to make one in the 10lb range.....!
And I know there is no chance of it deforming due to the added downforce of a wing.....!

All I know is that the FAL rear window weighs approx 15 lbs all by itself.
And I also know that I posted a bunch of wing pics here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1386771...but that's all I know.
Scott, who knows too that a carbon hatch and a FAL window is Really Light...local guy Cramer has both and I've lifted it...Really Light.
