As long as the "tint" is not metallic, and I would be checking how it works no matter where you put it long before I trust it to warn me, [in time] about radar/laser, don't forget if you are the car that is targeted, its too late, you must fallow PSP. 94

</TD></TR></TABLE>PSP = proper speeding procedure, part of that is knowing how well the detector works, if you find a trap, drive by it a few times, [both directions] with and without other traffic, your detector works best when the cars ahead of you are targeted and your detector goes off.
There are two things to remember to avoid a ticket, and have worked very well for me, there is always someone that wants to go faster then you, or at least be in front of you, good deal let them. When you get stopped, and you will , no matter how good the detector is, don't try and bullshit the cop, they are not stupid, and they hate like hell being bull shitted, and they have heard it all before, and as long as you aren't being completely ballistic, he/she is more likely to let you go with a warning if your not being a dork. It has worked for me more then a few times, be polite, [without trying to suck up, they hate that also] and when he asks, [and they always do up here] Do you know what you are being stopped for? or Do you know how fast you where going? If your detector went off, it's a good bet he/she is stopping you for speeding, so, say so, or, when my detector went off I was over the limit, never say you don't know if asked "do you know how fast you where going" he/she already knows, so telling him/her is not going to change anything except your not a dork like the last 20 people he/she stopped, and that is your best bet on getting off with a warning, and if he/she lets you off, don't forget to say thanks, because the next time he/she sees you, even if you are over the limit a bit, it's better that he/she is thinking, oh yea the polite no bullshit guy instead of, oh yea, goodie, the asswipe, got you! 94

The only reason they ask you is so you cant fight it in court. I wouldn't recommend telling them. They have no reason to treat you differently if you don't say anything, that's part of your rights. There is no reason to be an A$$hole either, while I believe they use this alot just to raise funds they are just doing there jobs.

I would not recommend putting the laser detector up in the top of your windshield. Reason being, laser is really really accurate. They also aim for either a lisence plate or a head light, where there's more chance for good reflection. The BEL laserpro's are also designed to be installed around the lisence plate/head light area. Also, if you're busted by laser you can pretty well assume you were the target anyhow. Although I do remember reading about a lawsuite where now there's a max distance they can clock you at with laser because of the dispurtion rate (which makes me wonder how they can even bust you with radar). I forget what the distance is, but if you do happen to be pulled over by laser make sure you look for any milage markers/etc so you can check the actual distance. This way you may have a chance if you fight the ticket and were past the range determined in the past law suite

If a headlight is on thats a bad place to aim. Driving with your high beams on will actually reduce the effective range by a lot. I believe the normal distance is 1000 feet. At that range I believe the dispurtion is 6 ft, basically the entire front end of your car.
