My friend is putting together engine after pretty much rebuilding it and he wants to know which side of the head gasket goes where. He got a multi layer steel gasket and he says that all the openings are different as in some are more open than others. Now when he was putting coolant in to the radiator, he left the oil pan bolt out and all the coolant came running out of his oil pan. What is his problem here? Could it be a crack in the block, even though the coolant rushed out of the oil pan?
