Default Stock b16 head vs ITR head (b18c6)

Hello.

I can get 3 brandnew complete ITR heads for a very good price.

Before buying, I would like tho know if they are worth the money compared to the stock b16 heads.

I know the ITR cams are much better for high HP turbo setups, but what about the rest?

Flow efficency of the ITR head compared to the B16 ?
RPM limit of the ITR head compared to the B16?
Other CompresstionRatio after changing the heads?

I donīt know where to find mor informations about this topic.

Thanks
Kevin

itr and b16 heads start out as identical castings. the ITR head has a light port 'n polish from the factory. yes, you're right, the ITR cams are way better than b16 cams. there will be no chance in compression ratio... being that they are both from the same casting.

And in point of the valvetrain components? Are there any differences?
Higher RPM possible?
I know they have other lost motion assemblys - but I donīt know in how far this would be an advantage?

Thanks

The ITR head has stiffer valvesprings to support higher rpms. the itr has dual valve springs on both the intake and exhaust while the b16 is doubled up on the intake only

Thats nice to know.
But in how far are the valves better?

What should be regarded as the RPM limit for the ITR head? Is 9000rpm Ok?

Thanks

i believe factory is 8700-8800. so i wouldnt go much past there but it really depends on the cams being used

The ITR valves are undercut for better flow and and are a lighter net weight (intake valves only) but like said above they started out as the same head, so keep the b16 and overtime build it to better specs than a stock itr. a ported b16 head will out flow a stock ITR head.
