Default VAFC question...tried to search but couldnt find anything...

OK guys...this may sound like a stupid question, or maybe im a little behind on my electronics....I have had a VAFC sitting on my desk for the past few months and i finally decided to have it put in and dyno tuned. I went to a shop to have them put it in and dyno tune it..and the guys says to me..."Apexi has a new VAFC especially built for the Type R" I have never heard of such a thing. I asked the guy what the differences are between the two and he didnt even know...he just said the the one built for the type R is about $20 more.

Is there one escpecially built for the Type R or not??? Thanks guys for your time

Thats what I asked him but he said no...he just said its a different system cause the Type R ecu is different. So I ended up wasting gas and not even putting in the vafc

I wouldn't even let him install and dyno tune it. Obviously he didn't know what he is talking about. Who know what kind of BS will he give it if something ever screw up!!

I think what the guy was trying to say was that Apexi has the power fc which is for the type R..However, its not new....Maybe he wants your money but you might want to look somewhere else to have your car tuned..

I don't think the power FC is $20 more.

i got a vafc install right now but when i went to the shop to get it dyno tune they couldn't even tune it and end up setting it back on stock. they told me that i need a bunch of stuff before they could actually tune it. at that time all i had was i/h/e fuel regulator and rail. i wasn't gona plan on doing much for a while so i was just gona run with this set up only. they told me i would need new cams or cam gears befor they could really use the vafc. is this all true or could they have tune it? i tought the vafc was just to help make your power curve staighter and help gain alittle bit more power. how come it says that my v-tec kicks in at 5800 on the vafc when i thought it was soppuse to kick in at 5700??

MORE BS. Sorry but it sounds like the people at your shop are trying to rip you off or just plain idiots.

Whatever you do, please solder all the connections. I'm a big believer is soldering everything electrical unless you plan on removing it alot.

I was going to install it myself but I just didnt feel like it, I was sick and didnt want to think ... But i guess as soon as im better ill put it on myself...thanks for the help guys

You need to go back and bitch smack him. I'm sick of little **** ant, have not shops trying to rip us off. I guess they think that just because we drive ITRs we have money to throw around and don't know ****. I'm tired of having to order every little thing because I can't trust local shops.
