Default What kind of pistons to get?

For me its in between JDM ITR or CTR.. I only have 91 octane available for me so i'm leaning towards JDM ITR. One question....do toda A's respond well to 11.4:01 compression? Or would getting toda B's be better if i was going with JDM ITR pistons?

go with the CTR pistons.. you will be fine with 91 octane. 11.8:1 CR and I would personally go with the Jun III's..

If you have a b18c block with a b18c1 head...CTR pistons will give you 12.3:1 compression, not 11.8:1. If you have only 91, then I would suggest that you stick with the JDM ITR pistons which would be about 11.4:1

I just posted something about this same topic a while ago, canuck is right, with the CTR pistons in the GSR block and head will net you 12.3 compression, a little higher than most people feel comfortable with. I personally would stick with something more modest, but that's me, I'm not looking for a monster that isn't safe to drive.

canuck-mx6: I think in order for me to run the ctr pistons in my block without detonating would be to retard my timing. But if i'm going to do that, would it defeat the purpose of raising my compression? Also, is 11.4:01 a good compression for aggressive cams, as in will i see a good gain?

I just installed CTR pistons in my block, but it is not put back together yet. I will be using Jun 3's so my dynamic compression will be lower as those cams have a lot of overlap. Plus, I will be using Hondata, so I can tune out detonation.

There are a couple people on the board that I know are using CTR pistons, both with retarded timing. One running 12 degrees and the other 14 degrees of timing, so it can be done.

just because it can be done doesnt mean its wise....

12.3:1 compression on a daily drivn car is pretty harsh on your motor. the chance of detenation is very high. JDM ITR pistons would put the compression to about 11.3:1. same as if you were to put normal b16 pistons. that would give you about 11.3 as well.

Nick: Should i go with the spoon or mugen head gasket? I think spoon has two types of hg's. One is one layer and the other is two layer. One layer is cheaper and can raise my compression a tad more. Do you sell these for a good price?

How is 11.5:01 on a daily driver motor? Too harsh? This is on 91 octane, thanks for the help guys.
