Default swap related questions

hey guys, i know a bunch of you have done h22 swaps and i've read tons of faqs online that have answered a lot of my questions, but i have a few more.

my background is that i have a 6th gen accord sedan, 4cyl auto. i looked into i/h/e/p + JET chip (a la AFAccord) and priced it out around $1600 not including tax/shipping/labor. seems like h22 swaps are ~$2k for the engine, $500-800 for the install.

1.) after the swap, did you resell your existing motor/tranny? how easy was it? how much did you get for it and how many miles? i have 50k on my f23 and i'd like to know how much i can get for it and how easy it will be to resell it.

2.) how's the reliability of your car after the swap? how long has it been?

3.) how did you verify the mileage on the motor you purchased? some sites i see online say ~35-40k miles, but how do you know that's true? what if it's more like 90k or 100k?

4.) anyone have this done in the sf bay area? what shops specialize in this? i'm thinking i'll have to go down to LA to get this done well, but i'd hope to find a place up here in case there are some hiccups after the install is done.

thanks!

..where did you find a H22 for 2k???.... what "jet" chip is that??? ...better not be those little things that give you like 10hp instantly... because that's bulls***....
The stock engine may be worth around 500 dollars (..and that could be including the tranny...)
Honda engine, should be reliable... i mean... ....how many preludes do you see at shoulder of the roads....?
Some engines could have been removed from a crashed or totaled car....

i heard the jdm engines only have 35 to 40k on them because the japan inspection makes them buy a new motor or new car, or something like that? if its true or not i have no idea

if you do a search for AFAccord or "JET" here @ HT you'll see his thread on how with boltons and $230 for the JET reprogramming, he gets 157whp and 155ft lb torque i believe....

$2k H22A can be found here:

please... read the thread created by AFAccord before continuing to comment that it doesn't really work. this is NOT some resistor sold on eBay as a "chip".

Yeah, I'm with him. Unless your doing internal mods, no reason to try and improve on the stock Honda ECU. I think waste of money. Are there others who confirm the claims made by AFAccord? He's prob a JET account exec trying to drum up sales.
