hey guys, I talked to this guy about his car and I'm going to look at it when I go home in a few weeks; I was wondering what you mechanically-inclined people or otherwise think of this car:

he wants $10,500, $9K w/o wheels/tires.
car has clean title, most papers/records, 80K on chassis.
swap/mods were performed at ultima performance in LI, NY...anyone heard of 'em?
paint was done by a friend, engine bay not painted, jambs etc. are painted.
says car was built for handling/autocross, ran a 14.4 on street tires at e-town last year.
he said only thing is that the timing on the engine needs to be readjusted, not sure what that connotes or entails..

I don't really want to buy someone else's work unless I think I'm getting a good deal or if I think I can still build on it and make it better, I'm just curious what you guys think, thanks.

 

sounds like that yellow eg that was in the super street magazine a couple months ago..at least I think it was super street...I think its a really good price.but like you said..its someone elses work.and IMO...I wouldnt buy a car thats been fixed up already..I want to take pride in my work..and not buy a machine thats already been built by someone else...like yous said.you COULD make it better..but he already has the best of things...its gonna be hard..but do what you must..and good luck...BTW..wasnt that on http://www.thepartstrader.com ? just wondering..

yeah, its the super street eg.
i saw them taking the pics at e-town.
very clean car.
i wouldnt think that theres anything wrong with how it was built, he's probably just got bored of it if he's done with it, and ready for something new to start on.
its been up for sale for a while.

 

know the guy he treated that car very nice did everything right the first time. car sounds sweet as hell.and what more can you want everything spoon
