Anyone shortened clutch pedal?
Since it looks like the Omni clutch master cylinders aren't going to be a practical solution for one looking for longevity, I was wondering if anyone has ever shortened the clutch pedal? My foot always lags my hand and want to reduce the travel a bit; not much, but enough to compensate for my sluggish foot. I also want to move the pedal to where it resides under the palm of my foot, not the middle. I'm thinking about an inch max.

I have never heard of anyone doing this.
Jeez how big are your feet? I wear some size 13 clunkers but I press the clutch pedal with the top of my foot (right below the toes), not the middle.

Im interested also... try it and let us know
haha
I wish I could extend my legs more too... with the seat all the way back and a lil bit of the "gangzta lean" I still cannot straighten my clutch leg out. That dumb dead pedal needs to move down a bit.
Tegs are for fun though, not for comfort.

what the heck is your avatar?
back to topic . . . i'm 6' tall and wear size 13 shoes and i have no problem. i don't like having my clutch leg all the way extended with the pedal all the way down. at that extention there is a lot less control over your muscles than with it somewhat less extended. and besides, it's true, the teg isn't that comfortable for me. i hate the seat. it's shaped all wrong for me 6'0" and 150lbs.

True.. but i mean to rest my foot/leg straight while cruising... not shifting...
We are about the same build... and 6ft+ doesnt work well... and forget someone squeezing in behind my seat, unless they are mary-kate or ashley size.

i don't like my leg fully extended while resting unless it's a really long trip, in which case i trade off my left and right legs doing the gas pedal sometimes in the 240 (just for cruising on the highway) or i use cruise control in the teg because it actually has it. then i can stretch out for a while.

I don't know what ya'll's problem is, I'm right at 6' and my car is just fine. I can even fit inside with the seat back straight up and wearing a helmet during autocross.
My normal daily driving position has the seat 2 notches up from all the way back, and the seatback is 3 notches back from straight up. No comfort problems.

i don't know which notch i like it at but i know the back is always just 2-3 notches from straight up. i like to feel in control and having the seat back near vertical helps that feeling a lot (visibility), and puts my arms and hands in the right position as well, then i adjust the seat bottom again a little bit to get my wrists at 10 & 2. in my 240, however, i have the seat fairly far back and the seat layed pretty far back as well b/c the seat is so SH!TTY as FU** it's just impossible to get comfortable, so i have to stretch a little to get my hands to the bottom half of the wheel; the top half is totally out of reach unless i lean forward. i definitely need a new seat in that car.
My main problem is that no matter how i position everything, i cannot stretch my left leg out fully while in the drivers seat. (I sometimes get frustrated and push on the dead pedal so hard, hoping it will bend down through the firewall a lil bit.)
I sit in cali traffic in my GSR for 2 hours per day... most of that is bumper to bumper (6-7am/5-6pm on the 5/405/101 freeways) and I need that stretch after hitting the pedal like 4000 times.
Im also on my second Clutch master and my car only has 60k, ahah. My knees will go out when im 40...

why aren't omni clutch master cylinder's practical for long term? do they induce more wear, or just aren't build as strong as stock?

probably just not the tolerances that real manufacturers adhere to. i would like to know also if this is the case. and if it is, that really calls into question the viability if the Omni brake kit.

a little extra mild steel plate would help if you're considering moving things around
thank god for the big **** sawzall.

Allright, just so you can say you've heard of someone doing this, I did it. I removed nearly an inch and the pedal is directly under the palm of my foot. It'll take a little getting used to, but it did shorten the stroke a good bit.
Cut in the straight section with the chop saw, V-groove the ends, butt weld it back together, grind smooth. Can't tell it's been tampered with.
