Default im losing a lot of power....i dynoed at 178 peak hp...

i got my car dynoed this satruday and my peak horsepower was only 178.04 with max torque at 123.54. im going to get a diagnostic when i can. i hope it's not a major problem. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem too and if so what do you think i need to do?

btw, i have a arc intake box w/chamber and exhaust.

heres the dyno results....

have you run a baseline before this dyno?

not saying this is for your situation, but my buddy had an arc intake box too - he actually lost hp over stock with that box, and gained like 4hp just by gutting the box and running a pipe up to it.

The ARC box is purely show, i love their products - but their intake has the wrong parts of R&D spend into it.

Seems normal, most s2000's dyno between 180 to 200.

those are pretty bad numbers.... maybe you need a tune up.... also you might need a valve adjustment..

and i doubt it's heatsoak... cuase all your runs are around the same area....

actually i have seen 04+ dyno between 190 and 210 to the wheels

but to the original maker of this thread, you may just need a good tune up. clean the filter, new plugs, valve adjustment, clean fluids, etc..

my friend has an 04 and he dynoed his car the same day and got 195. Nishant, do you think a good tune up can get me back the ~20hp im losing? i really dont know what the real problem is yet. the people who dynoed my car said that i may be running too rich...

btw, thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Hmmm... 13:1 at peak power is a bit rich, but I don't think thats where your 20hp is.

well if you compare the a/f to the power curve,
they seem to follow eachother..

when the a/f goes rich.. the power dips..

just a thought..
and yeah ditch that wierdo intake,

well if you didnt have it tuned you are going to loose hp off the bat, if you do have the best aftermarket parts in the world tuning is what gives you the power and lets your car know you put aftermarket parts on. If you just put parts on, the same amount of gas will get into the engine and yes maybe a little more air but that is not what you want because then your car will run rich, you will have to tune it to change what happens in the combustion chamber, what ever happens there is what counts. about your exhaust system if you changed your headers well your loosing about 15 hp, on s2ks the headers that come with the car are perfectly design for that engine just like the jdm 4-1 headers.

Will let your car know about the aftermarket parts? What do they have to be introduced? I mean you make it sound like a blind date. Also, will run rich if it is getting more air? brrr...sorry you lose....dumbass....Air/fuel ratios....too much fuel=rich. Not enough fuel= lean. If you are going to post on here and try to make yourself look smart, try to know what you're talking about. Not everyone on here is as ignorant as you.

Tuning will pull the most pwer possible out of your mods, but this is not what he's talking about here. He thinks his S2K dynoed low. Honestly, I just think you need to get rid of that arc box, and get a tune up. Its amazing what new plugs and wires and a good valve adjustment will do.

you can't judge someone by the amount of posts they have... just cause they have 100 posts doesn't mean they dont' know more then someone with a million posts.....

by the way the personhe was calling a dumbass only has 1 post.. .and that post was in this tread.. so you do the math..

thats what im saying...ARC on a dyno shouldn't have heat soak issues because your hood is open and their should be fans in front of your car.

get the valve adjustment and check your retainers

your the dumbass the sensors will make your car rich you wont be getting more air the computer will be putting more gas, what do you think i do i test parts for Honda , Cali HPP tried if already put aftermarket parts on s2ks and your not going to be making power for the buck you might as well go turbo or supercharger, and again your the dumbass.
