i think i over-revved my motor
i was getting on the highway on third, and i was going about 60 mph (was at 5,000 rpm) cause i need power and flooring it. i was switching to 4th, but i accidently switched to 2nd and flooring it, so i watch my revs went up to 7,600 for about 3-5 seconds. its a 94 D15b7 motor, and my guage cluster is a EX cluster, so i was right at the beginning of the red line. but i know the Z6 has higher revs, and i dont know the red line for a dx motor is.
after i came back, i was listening to the motor and it sounded fine, but i dont want to drive in the middle of the freeway next week having a blown motor or something.

you'd know if it was blown...believe me, you wouldn't be driving it. your oil ok? all other fluids ok? any smoke coming from the exhaust? any fluids where they shouldnt be? any funny smells? check all those things for sure. if you really want piece of mind, go get a compression test done.
if you caused any damage you would have noticed by now. Its pretty commen for people wth preludes to down shift 5-2 by accidend and float a valve. you will notice right away though. I wouldnt worry about it
redline for d15b7 is 6,200 rpms.. but damn.. 7,600?rpms? not to sound like an *** but i dont understand why it took u 3-5 sec to switch it out of gear? but if everything sounds fine nothing should be wrong then..

nah its all stock, only i/h/e, the rev limiter was on i think, but i dont know because i hit the clutch right when i saw it at 7,600 and my stero was all the way up.
i was going about 60-65 i think on 2nd so i tihnk the engine was engine braking at 7,600 rpm, not because of me flooring it to 7'600 and rev limiter letting it go there.

well i was shifting 3rd to 4th in my ls/vtec at 8 grand and it accidently went into 2nd.. but i took it out quick.. everything is ay ok tho. compression all good, no noises or fluid drippings and ****
i got lucky

a mis-shift will make your engine turn that fast, no matter what kind of rev limiter you have.
i did it once on my b18b. 5th -> 2nd. reved to 8000rpm for a split second. no damage.

Rev limiter is there to limit your revs (pushing the throttle, holding a gear too long) won't do **** if you mis-shift. It's not like the rev limiter will take your car out of gear for you or press the clutch. Common sense people, where is it?

no
this is called a mechanical overrev. there is nothing to prevent this.

I don't know why people get worried by by going 700 RPM above redline. It's not one of GM's 1980's weak as wheezy 4 bangers that top out at 4500 rpm, Honda's, will taking all assfucking you can think of. Well, except the ZC and Y8.

no i wasnt takling about it wont go pass the limiter with a misshift
since he kept on gasing it down for 3-5sec
it should of slowly went back down to whatever the limiter is since
