Intake Advice
I just got a b16 installed in my 90 hatch, already picked out RSR Exmag exhaust, now I'm looking at intake. A friend of mine says don't bother with CAI, just grab the cheapest short ram ebay intake I can find. Is it worth it to pay more for your intake, or should I just take his advice?
I like my passwordjdm Carbon fiberr intake but if you don't feel like paying $150 just get an ebay intake and k&N filter like stated above there all the same no need to pay for a name its just "a filter on a stick"
all wrong...a 3 inch cai on a b16 has proven to make more power than the password intake and probably any shortram out there...however no company i know of makes them available for b series EFs...however check my sig

Do you have any dyno Graphs to prove that statement and to prove im wrong?
How do you justify saying that a 3 inch METAL tube that heat soaks badly produes more power than a large carbon fiber tube that does not heat soak nearly as much.
when my friend went to uti they dynoed a civic with a stock airbox then dynoed the same civic with an AEM V2 and no other adjustments at the initial startup the v2 produced some decent gains but after idleing a few minutes and doing another pull the v2 lost power and made the same as the stock airbox this is due to heat soak.
either way an intake is an intake none of them are gonna give huge gains just go with something you can afford.

look up b19coupe...i know for a FACT that he did a 3in cai comparo with the js racing whale *****....and the 3 inch made better peak numbers...the whal p made better low-mid range power but the 3 killed in the top end...
dont be an *** and just assume its metal...im getting em custom made from alloy...plus the v2 is not as good a system as u think it is...the regular CAIs make better results on the more demanding motors...
and the one im getting built costs 40 bux w/out filter...i think anybody can afford that

i read in a post a week or two ago that AEM was making a cold air kit for b series ef's, it even comes with a modified motor mount so it all clears.
EDIT: here is the link to their website, its called a hybrid intake and is made just for hondas with swaps

Too bad all that hot air isnt there when you driving.
My short ram is just as good as any CAI on the market and I never have to worry about a hydrolock.

take a look at these dyno numbers on my intake test.
if you can follow the lines...i know its confusing you can really see which inakes were better.... don't just look at the top HP #s...

the ebay power chamber beat out ALL the other intakes till 5500rpms, then dropped maybe 1 hp till 7000rpms.
IMO a $20.00 power chamber w/ K&N from ebay won the battle.

Low-mid > Peak
I do remember that comparo.
