Hi guys, its been so long since i've surfed this board. I finally graduated from college and bought the new 3 series bimmer but will be giving my accord to my little brother entering college. Well, today as I was driving to work I saw smoke coming out of the engine compartment. At first I smelled the burnt rubber/metallic odor. I thought it was the outside air or something, but as I drove about a mile, that's when i notice smoke coming out of my hood. I pulled over and lifted the hood to find out smoke pouring out near the lower belt region to the left. At first I thought I saw a crack on one of the bolts near the lower belt region. My engine temp gauge was well below the half way mark, so i knew it wasn't my engine. The smoking had stopped as i turned off the ignition. I had it towed to the dealership I go to when i have major problems. They told me my ac compressor needs to be replaced. Asking price with labor is $900. Is this reasonable? I called Midas and another local shop and they were asking for around $800 and $750 roughly but I would need it to be towed to their shop and would run me around $100. Who should I go with? Anybody know any reputable shop around philly area that might charge lower? thanks
