bondo'd in all the gaps between the grills, then covered it in ultra-suede. the bondo makes it heavier and hence better sounding because of less movement.

Looks awesome How does it sound? Also do you have a shot showing the whole hatch? I'm trying to clear up some space in my hatch and this look like a setup I could use

it sounds pretty good. a higher power sub would help but this one was only $50.

thanks guys.
it probably weights more than a regular 10" box, because the top panel is longer and its god the amp rack in there too. its all 3/4mdf except for the bamboo. its not really all that heavy. no different than having a fat *** in the car as opposed to a regular person.
you can actually get the spare tire out without removing the box, although to remove the box you just:
remove the upper corner tabs which are connected by wingnuts (and just to make it look more form fitting),
undo the bungee cords that go from the box to the seats hinges (where they fold anyway),
and of course unplug the amp.
its all about 5min and the carpet comes out with it.
there are 2 reasons i made the box like this, so i can remove it quick for auto-x/drag racing, and so that it fits under the strut bar so that i can lay stuff in the back of the car with the seats down, and not even touch the box.

clean set up. did you build it to any specs or did you just use the space you felt was right?

yeah i took the suggested specs from the infinity website for a sealed box, the internal volume is about 15% smalled than the suggested size, but there is filler in there to bring it back up to what it should be. The amp rack is what takes up the 15%. with the amp in another place is would be right on.
