Default 95 Prelude h22 Clutch problems

Hi guys, referred here by a friend, first post.

Recently my clutch started acting up, not giving enough pressure for a good shift, then one day it just stopped having pressure at all. Basically I can push it all the way to the floor with no resistance. I took it to the local Aamco here and they told me the whole clutch needed to be replaced, including the Master Cylinder (if I remember right, was a couple weeks ago).

How much should I expect to pay for that with labor? They quoted me $1000, basically $500 labor. This sounds kind of high. Any advice would be appreciated.

It would be cheaper if you did it yourself. It is not that difficult it really depends on how mechanically inclined you are. That labor does sound kinda high. Did they break it down by hour what would be done? ETC. Good Luck

$500 labor is not out of the question considering they were probably going to take out the engine. (sometimes easier than wedging just the tranny out)

however, what is a little high is your estimate for the parts ($500) . I assume they quoted you for a stock clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing. I got my kit for $100 bucks from Exedy. Add in the master cylinder and it's still way less than $500. I would buy the parts yourself and then ask them how much labor.

When you feel theres no pressure on your clutch, check for brake fluid, thats usually the case, and if your lucky you wont have a problem. You might want to check your clutch slave cylinder as well, usually thats first and then if you jam gears you messup the master cylinder.

Im am leaning towards what this guy is saying it sounds like your master cylinder went dry. I'd do a new clutch master and slave cylinder to start 9 out of 10 times that will be your problem in this case.

go with the cheaper stuff to replace first, and if it goes away good, if not keep on working until you fix it
