speedometer not working
First of all, i searched and nothing helped. After filling my trans fluid through the speed sensor hole and installing the speed sensor, my speedometer stopped working. Everything else in the cluster works except for the speedometer. I took the vss out again and installed everything back in, and i made sure it was secure and as far as it can go down and plugged it back. The check engine light came on, went to autozone and code 17 (speed sensor malfunction) came up. I ordered 2 different speed sensors, and my speedo still doesnt work, light still on. I doubt both the speed sensors are broken too. Any ideas what else could be wrong? Thanks for help
Whuts up i had the same problem in my gsr when i had it i filled it through the speed sensor hole and the speedo didn't work after that throwing code 17. What i did was use a different speed sensor and wired it up because it wasn't lined up correctly the top of the speed sensor where the plug goes got corroded once i cut the wires and wire connected them together using the new speed sensor plug everything worked fine maybe check your wiring. I know I dont have a type r but i was browsing and thought i may be able to help some one out. Sorry if i offended you type r guys with my gsr.
thanks for the reply, do you know where i can get the vss plug? or anyone here have one for sale? also, is there a way of cleaning the plug? maybe with alcohol?

Yes check there.
How is taking out the VSS and putting it in without breaking it easier than getting a tube into the fill hole? Why take the risks?

I just cut off the old connector and replace it with a new connector. This might be your problem! Good luck!
