Hey guys,
Recently finished my swap, b18c into CRX. i only run alternator and i was looking into lightened crank pulleys. so my question is:
How much lighter is the Evoultion Industries crank pulley compared to the CTR N1 crank pulley? Which crank pulley would you prefer over the other?
Also, since i am out here in cali, would the lightened crank pulley affect emissions in any way? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the Evolution Industries pulley, but if it has a damper, it's definitely better than the CTR pulley, even if it's heavier.

The only thing out of that list that I would pay attention to is SFI Approved, if that's something to even be concerned about. No damper makes it the same, and I highly doubt it's better balanced than the OEM CTR pulley... It's really not difficult to zero balance a round piece of metal, and Honda is sort of known for it's tight tolerances.

$60 more and you have the sfi approved sticker
, that's enough..
that was just my opinion anyway, just heard bad story's about ctr pulley's, no big deal, simmer

Not attacking, just stating facts.
To me, an SFI sticker means nothing, as I have a street car. And any problems with oil pumps shattering that the CTR pulley has, the Evolution pulley will have too, as it isn't a damper, just a pulley. Once again, not to start E-Trouble, but opinions are nice, but you can't argue raw numbers and facts.

When I was down in Florida we use to have CTR N1 pulleys balanced regularly. There was always some quantity of metal removed. On the other hand we did have a UR pulley check and it was perfect. I never got to fool around with the Evolution Industries pulley but I can imagine it wouldn't be that much different.

thanks for the input but i still have some questions unasnwered.
How much lighter, if any is the evolution industries pulley vs. the ctr n1 crank pulley.
since, im out in cali, is emissions effected with either of these pulleys?

I wasn't able to come up with a number for them after searching. I couldn't find a homepage either?

Any solid, non damping pulley will have the same problems assuming no incompetence in manufacturing or materials.

you have any information that would persuade me towards chosing one of those crank pulleys?

Both are SFI approved, and both will protect the engine and oil pump from damage.

the evolution industries crank pulley is also sfi approved. will it also protect again engine and oil pump damage?

No, because it is a solid, undamped pulley. SFI approval just means it won't explode going down the track.

good lookin out man. looks like i will be sticking with stock crank pulley until i pull enough funds for a fluidampr. thanks for all the info.
