Default Head gasket????

I just bought a 97 gsr and the guy i bought it from told me he adds oil every other day or so because the oil is burning due to a head gasket leak/crack. i had someone look at it and they said the car might just need valve adjustment to fix the problem. so my question is how do i find out what i really need to fix?

a valve adjustment wont cure your oil burning problem.
its it burning or leaking the oil?

then figure out when its burning oil
then do a leakdown test wich will exactly pinpoint whats going on

Run a compression test.

Yeah, do a leak down to pinpoint it, where if a headgasket was blown, you would probably be blowing alot of white smoke out of your exhaust.
