JDM B18C...parts that can be used.
I'm in the process of getting a B18C engine in my R (currently I have a turbocharged B18B1).
My question is about what parts can be used and what can't be. Is there a difference between USDM parts and JDM parts for the JDM B18C? For example, the header, exhaust, etc.? I know there's a slight difference between the specs of a JDM and USDM engines, but I'm not sure about the parts.
Can someone shed light. Thanx.

Be specific on what parts and what year. If its a 98+ the header will not bolt to the stock cat. If its an ITR motor then everything is the same as the stock motor except minor internal mods. If its a gsr then the IM are different but all other external crap is the same.
Thanx guys for the response. It's a JDM 98+ B18C engine. The shop owner installing the engine found an engine in Dubai and is nice enough to go and get it. By mid of next week I'll be ready to enjoy NA again!
Anyway, I was speaking of aftermarket parts. Thinking of getting a Toda header OR lovefab header. The exhaust, not sure yet. Maybe a Fujitsubo Legalis R or the Mugen. Cats are not required by law over here.

Send us free oil
But, you should figure out if its jdm gsr, or jdm itr. That will dictate what parts are what. Either way.. u can use the entire bottom end. The head will vary depending upon if its gsr or itr.
All the headers and such will bolt onto it though. The only issue is if its a GSR and you wish to do an intake manifold... if that will change what works due to the intake side being different. Also, if it is GSR and you use it, you'll require a different ecu, or a chipped ecu to controll the secondary butterflies.

Thanx. The engine is suppose to be a jdm itr with around 44,000 km. And the guy arrived today. And now I just can't wait! I'll keep you posted with pictures and all.
You're telling me you didn't receive the free oil...

Well, I'm really fed up with having problems everytime I go out in the car. Mostly tuning problems though. I'm not a tuner, and we don't have a tuner around! And more importantly, I'm not enjoying my R! In a couple of months I'll probably have it installed on a Civic. My turbo also needs to be changed. The head is all messed up. So I'll rebuild the head, get better cams, Full-race turbo kit, and AEM ems (instead of the FAST). And I'll be ready to give it another shot!

in jdm land a b18c = jdm itr or jdm gsr..</TD></TR></TABLE>
It's supposed to be an integra type r engine. I'm getting the complete front end, without the actual body, but all other components. Engine, ECU, transmission, complete wiring, front brakes, suspension. Basically a complete swap. I'll check it out tommorow and will let you know the details.
Is there a visual difference between the jdm itr and jdm gsr?

well for one the jdm b18c-r has a pr3 head while the jdm b18c (gsr) has a p72 head...there are a lot more things to look for I just dont want to write it all out LOL
Yep. French Blue from the Evolution VII.
It's an R for sure! Having a some problems with compaibility though. The car is a 2000 Acura Type R, which means an OBD2b. The front clip I got is an OBD2a WITHOUT ABS. My car is an ABS, so the arm is a bit different (no holes for the abs sensors on the arm of the JDM front clip). Hopefully by tommorow he'll figure it out by getting the right part, other wise I'll have to use my Driveshaft shop stage 3 axles.
As for the ECU, I'll be using a spoon ecu he has for now, which is compatible to my engine, until he receives the OBD2a to OBD2b adapter. But if the spoon ecu run without problems, I might just keep it! But tommorow I'll now what's the deal though!
I'll soon be ordering a Comptech Ice box. And an exhaust, any suggestions?
Finally I feel I could use my car any day I want without thinking of anything. Pump gas, A/C, and the best handling! And reliability! Whenever I have the chance to hit the circuit, I'll go for it!

Finally the engine is in and running!
So far my mods are as the following:
JDM B18C ITR with transmission, ECU, etc. (complete swap)
OEM JDM header
Master Exhaust 2.25" custom exhaust
Clutch Masters stage 4 clutch (was used in the previous setup, so I thought what the hell)
ACT streetlite flywheel
Cheap temporary intake
(until I decide which one to buy)
And finally A/C!! I do need it in our extremely hot weather!
Here are some pictures:

A little OT...
You live on an Island that is 6 miles wide by maybe 15 long with one road in and out in the middle of the Persian Gulf and you drive an ITR?
How much excitement could you get out of those roads?
Just asking...

I see you know your geography well
Other than Bahrain being mostly flat, there are many fun roads around. Lots of roundabouts and turns.
So far driving the ITR with the new engine (in those roads
) has been a great experience! The handling is just amazing.
Parts for handling:
Tein Type Flex coilover
DC Sports rear tie bar
Soon to be installed: Mugen 26mm rear strut bar
Braking:
Everything is OEM
Soon to be installed: StopTech big brake kit. Just waiting for the correct wheel combination and offset. My current wheel's offset is wrong.
