bent valves.
Do a valve adjustment, whichever valves bent are going to be way out of spec

Bent valves, that's just one of the issues bro. For sure it's not just one valve, but a few. Also, your cylinder will have an issue, probably because the oil jet, inside the engine, it's messed up. Same thing happened to my ride. Ended up blowing up my engine. When I went to put it on this Sat after spending like $1500 fixing it, I realized that it was messed up because the oil jet was fucked up. If it's a GSR then nevermind, then it's just your valves. I got lucky and was able to drive for over an year like that but don't take a chance. You'll get screwed like me

If you have more questions, just PM me I'll tell you more details on what happened but yea, basically the same story, I miss shifted and hit around 12k rpm and thats how my car sounded. Just like a WRX

ok, i searched around and this is the closest thread i could find. to start off my car also sounds like a WRX along with a few other problems like it doesnt want to accelerate correctly..like it is struggling and when i stop at lights the rpms go so low it will stall.

4 people have looked at it and said i needed a head gasket, another says its bent valves, the other says it sounds like a fuel issue. im not sure what to think
if i had the money id just throw a swap in it but i just cant afford that right now.

its a 95 del sol, d16z..1.6 sohc vtec

you should be able to hear the ticking of the valves somewhat. and the noise will become more rapid as rpm increases. do a leakdown test. i cracked a ringland on 2 pistons and that made my car sound like a subaru lol.
