I was approached with this problem by trial member(using AIM). He has a 91 accord wagon. He put in a new unit and can eject/put cd's into it, but he can't get the display to come on. He then tried to put the stock unit back in and that won't even turn on. I told him to check underdash and underhood fuses and to double check his wiring(which wouldn't affect his stock unit). That didn't work and I'm stumped on what else it could be. Can anyone in here offer some help for him on what he could try?
ok, so i finally got around to registering, but props to "PA MATT" for helpin me out...
yes, i did use a harness, which is why the hell i dont understand wtf is wrong...if i hook my cd player back up in my old car (mazda protege) it works just fine, and if i plug the stock radio back up in my accord, it wont do anything....so im clue less

I would use a mulit meter, plug in the harness and test to make sure you are getting power on both constant and turn on wires and make sure you have a good ground. Also make sure you have the antenna pluged in. Some times the additional ground from the antena helps. Also make sure you are using the correct dimmer wire or not using it at all just cap it off. It sounds to me like your not getting any accy turn on. when the car is off most cd players will allow you to eject the cd. Try connecting the red and yellow off the deck to the yellow on the harness and see if it turns on. Don't leave it this way because the player will never turn off. If it works that way then your red wire (accy turn on wire) has blown fuse or the circuit is open some where. Check all of your fuses under the dash and under the hood. If all els fails run a new accy wire from your ignition coulmn to the radio. Good luck!

If the stock HU no longer works and you used a wiring harness, it can't be a wiring problem
If we are talking about a Honda/Acura then I would check the "radio" acc. fuse in the "in-car" fuse box and the "back up power", [memory on OEM HU] fuse in the engine bay fuse box, probably a 7.5A, [may not be big enough for the aftermarket HU] DO NOT replace with bigger fuse, if the yellow, [constant power] on the aftermarket HU needs more then 7.5A, run a line to the batt., just like you would wire an amp. BTW just because a fuse does not look blown does not mean it is good, test the fuse or replace with one you know is good.
