Default Need to disconnect battery for Welding on car?

As he title says, I will be doing some stitch welding to my car. when welding up front will this mess up the ground on the battery/motor and fry something or does it matter? I will probably disconnect it anyway but need to know anyways.

Yes take it off, the battery, nor the electronics like it very much, when you have shitload of volts running through the negative side of the circuit.

I've never fried anything by welding to the chasis without disconnecting anything. I don't know if I've just been lucky, or if it's hard to fry stuff when you have a decent place to ground the welder. Lately though I've been disconnecting all grounds near where I'm working, as well as disconnecting the ecu. Figure it can't hurt

It takes 30seconds to disconnect the battery, whats the problem in having some added security?
