My GF's 89 SI has recently been starting intermittently. It might start the first try, or it might not even crank over but always starts after a couple tries.

Could it be the starter? I'd like some advice cause I don't want her to be stranded somewhere while I'm at work.

it coulod be the main relay. does the starter crank over and it doesnt start? or is the starter cranking intermittently? tell us more

 

Starter cranks when it wants to. Tell ya anything?

 

check your wiring could be a loose connection....grounds, ... it could be the starter
