Default new valve seals??

i recently put a gsr in my eg coupe. this past week my friend was driving behind me and said i was burning quite a bit of oil from a start and when i get on it and i could smell it too. now my check engine light is on for my o2 sensor cuz i guess buing the oil fouled it out. my friend said sounds like i need new valve seals. but could be the rings too. does this sound like i need new valve seals? or more toward the rings? i hope its not the rings.

do a compression test, that should tell you if your rings are bad. You could also just replace the seals and see if that fixes it.

not exactly. honda motors are notorious for blowing an oil ring but maintaine compression because of the compression rings are still in tact fine.

oil ring is the ring around your piston that retains the oil from going into the cylinders. to replaced you basically looking at a full tear down

thats what i figured. could this still be the valve seals? my buddy was burning a lot of oil to the point wet oil was comming out his exhaust and he replaced his seals and it was fine.

how bad is it really? i personally would do a compression and leak down test to see where the oil is burning from and see the shape of the motor. If its got decent compression (ie. all cylinders are within 10psi) and not going through 1 liter every 1000kms then i would just start saving for a rebuild. which is exactly what i am doing right now. my motor is burning oil but only like 1 liter every 5000kms so its not that big of a deal imo.
