Car now slow?
I just changed my oil two weeks ago to mobil 1 from regular oil. I bought the car a month ago with 65k miles. now the car threw a check engine light and the car feels slower. When i checked the dipstick it is a quarter inch higher than the top dot. Does anyone know what is goin on? I think that the oil level is too high and going into the heads. Please help i dont wanna blow my motor. I already did searches but couldn't real find anything definitive.
It threw a code today and i haven't had the chance to find out. It is a 98 gsr dc2 and the car feels slower than normal once it hits vtec. It takes about twice as long to go from 6k to 8k rpm.
If I had to guess, I would say that you arent Actually "hitting Vtec".
The first thing you need to do is Get the oil level to normal, then Reset the Ecu.
To reset the ecu, pull the 7.5amp "Backup" fuse under the hood and wait for About 30sec.
Once you do all of that, Find out what code you are throwing. You work at a Ford Dealership, you should be able to get your hands on a Generic ObdII Scanner.

thanks for the responses. I'm going to go check what code it is. Could i do serious damage by driving with too much oil in my car. There is no dash or mark on my dipstick but it is a little higher than the second dash when the oil is cold.

YES! by revving high. keep the revs low until you fix the problem. just let some oil out then check and fill to proper level. the damage you cause would be very expensive to fix, requiring a lot of labor. it would burn oil until you had the motor (or just the head) rebuilt.
