Default 1996 Acoord h22b2 interfearance engine?

My parents 96 accord sheared the cam gear bolt off and the keyway stripped so the cam gear was spinning on the cam. This happened at idle when pulling in the driveway. My question is this motor an interfearance motor or can I throw in a new cam and gear and be on my way?

It is an "interference" motor as are the F22B2's and other permutations.
There has been (however) one case during the last month in here, that a guy with a V6 dodged the bullet and got away with the Tbelt/wpump bit and won.

A quick indicator that you may have additional problems can be seen once you disassemble the cam retainers and get the cam followers out of the way. If you have any bent valves, the stems will not be a uniform height (the bent head will keep the valve from fully closing)
Another test will be to apply compressed air to the combustion chambers thru the sparkplug holes and listen for air escaping from either side. (there should be none)
Any indication will (of course) predicate the head coming off, where you can properly inspect both the valves AND the pistons

Thanks for the reply. Check the valve heights with a straight edge and also the compressed air Idea. I am keeping my fingers crossed for an easy fix. Thanks you again for the information.
